This guide is meant to get you up and running on your platform. In this guide, we’ll take a look at gaining access to your platform for the first time, as well as adding new users, and assigning them roles.

Accepting the CLOSA & Activating your 3DEXPERIENCE platform

Welcome to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform! I’m Mike from SolidXperts, and we’re here to make sure that you can get things started on the right foot.
Once your order has been processed by Dassault Systèmes, you’ll receive an email that looks like this:

It contains the steps you’ll need to follow, as well as a link to “Launch your 3DEXPERIENCE platform”.

Click this button and you’ll arrive at the 3DEXPERIENCE log-in page.

If you already have an existing SOLIDWORKS or 3DEXPERIENCE ID, you can use those credentials to log-in. If not, just click to create one.

Once you log in, you’ll be brought to a page with a prompt that looks like this:

Click the “Make Me Administrator” button to continue. Just be aware that the person that clicks this button will become the platform administrator and they will consume a 3DSwymer role.

This role will additionally be locked on the user for a period of 30 days.

It may take a minute for the platform to be set up, and then the CLOSA agreement will appear.

Take your time to read through it, and when you’re ready, click the button to accept.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully activated your 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Check out the next video to learn how to invite members and assign them roles.

Adding Users and Assigning Roles

Now that your platform is up and running, you’ll want to start inviting members and assigning them roles. This can be done in either the Member’s Management or Platform Management dashboard. This guide will be demonstrated with the Platform Management dashboard.

Click the Invite Members button and a window will appear that contains the steps that you need to follow.

Members

User email: Enter the email of the users you would like to invite.

User rights: Choose the level of permission given to the invited users.

Member – Internal member of your organization that does not have access to admin settings.
Administrator – Administrator of the platform with access to all administrator settings (it is possible to have multiple administrators).
External – A member that is outside of your organization allowing for further restrictions.

Invitation Email language: Users will receive an email with information on accessing the platform in the selected language.

Personalized message: You can choose to include a custom message with an invitation email.

Roles

As a default, all members will be automatically assigned the 3DSwymer role. You can choose to assign the license and restrict the usage of the role to this platform.

If you would like to assign additional roles to users (e.g. a role that contains SOLIDWORKS), click the empty box next to the desired role.

If any of the roles require a prerequisite, you will be notified that granting this role will also grant the prerequisite role.

In this case, the Collaborative Industry Innovator role is a prerequisite for both 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS and Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS.

Additional Apps

Depending on which roles you have access to, you may or may not have additional apps that can be assigned.

For example, if you have the 3DSwymer role, the SOLIDWORKS Add-in will allow for 3DDrive and Marketplace via SOLIDWORKS Desktop.

Once you select ‘Invite’, all members that were included will receive an email with a link to access the platform.

You’re done! You and all your teammates should now have access to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform with the appropriate roles assigned.

Your First 3DDashboard

Use the Welcome App to access your first dashboard and browse 3DEXPERIENCE guides and tutorials according to your roles.
